Schedule & Guests Announced For Anime Fans Give Back 2 Japan
With the one year anniversary coming up in just a few days, events are going on around the world and especially in Japan in regards to the disaster that happened there. One of the more interesting ones for anime fans is a twenty-four hour podcasting marathon with some of the best folks out there in the English speaking anime and manga community. I wanted to be a part of this as well, but my Bell’s Palsy and inability to speak for more than a few minutes at a time made it hard since the last thing you need to hear is me slurring my wayNEW YORK, NY – March 8th, 2012 – The anime community came together one year ago and raised over $30,000 to support the people of Japan in their time of need. This year the anime community is coming together again for a second “Anime Fans Give Back” marathon to raise awareness for the victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. We will be running a 24-hour podcasting marathon live on UStream and on the website (http://animefansgiveback.com) starting March 10th at 5:00PM EST and running through 6:00PM EST on March 11th. We are looking to raise over $20,000 for a $50,000 total over the last year through GlobalGiving (http://globalgiving.org) for those in Japan. The event begins this Saturday, March 10th, at 5:00PM Eastern Time.

We will also be giving out an autographed Cowboy Bebop movie script to the highest donor during the 1PM ET – 3PM ET hours on Sunday. The script will be signed by Steve Blum (Spike), Beau Billingslea (Jet), Wendy Lee (Fey), Daran Norris (Vincent), Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (ADR Director and Julia in the series), Jennifer Hale (Electra) and Melissa Fahn (Ed). The minimum donation must be $300 for that prize.
